Amateur Brewers And Vintners Needed For Homebrew Competition

Elkhart, IN—February 23, 2017  Do you make a killer Cabernet or the perfect Pale Ale? Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County is looking for home brewers and vintners to showcase their best beers and wines at Bottlecaps & Corks, the area’s only amateur beer and wine tasting event. Brewers and vintners will have the chance to show off their brews, get feedback from local professional judges, enjoy the event, and help out a local nonprofit. Event attendees and local professional judges will vote on their favorite beers and wines, with champions crowned in both the People’s Choice and Judging Competition.

Bottlecaps & Corks will be Friday, May 26th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the beautiful Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart. Amateur brewers and vintners can submit as many beers or wines as they like, and the registration fee of $25 will be waived for three or more entries. Brewers and vintners must be available to distribute their beers or wines during the event, and may bring one guest.

Past People’s Choice winners include Randy Hessler, “Stella Marie” Belgium Tripel (2014); Darin Elswick, Cabernet Zinfandel Blend (2014); Dave Beaverson, “Hop Smack” Double IPA (2015); Tony Campanello, Cabernet Savignon (2015); Aaron West & Kurt Drufke, “FUPA” Douple IPA (2016); and Dominic & Sarita Cataldo, Cabernet (2016).

Those who wish to attend the event may purchase General Admission tickets for $40 in advance. General Admission tickets will include entry into the event, samples of beer and wine, live music, and a commemorative tasting glass. VIP and Designated Driver tickets are also available. Attendees will be able to enjoy the scenic Wellfield Botanic Gardens, which has over 20 individual gardens across 36 acres in the heart of Elkhart’s Gateway Mile.
