More than 40 years ago, John met his Little Brother Jeff. They did some fun things together, like fishing and camping. Mostly, though, John and Jeff went to the park or had dinner together. After a year, John found out that he had to move for his job. He still called Jeff after he left, but eventually, the two lost touch. For the next 18 years, John though about Jeff. He hoped that Jeff had grown up to do the things that he wanted to do, that he had a happy life. Most of all, John wondered if he had made a difference.
Jeff wondered about his Big Brother too, for many years. Finally, in 1990, Jeff decided that he wanted to find John. He wanted to than John, because he always felt that having John in his life changed it for the better. After searching, Jeff found John in 1991. They stayed in touch until the spring of 2014, when John passed away.
Today, Jeff says, "Believe me, having a mentor changed my life for the better. It's been almost 45 years, and even though John is gone- that hasn't changed. I am where I am in my life today because John took the time to be my friend. He told me that my life could be anything I wanted it to be, and he gave me hope for my future,".
