Elkhart, IN—May 10, 2017 Searching for the best way to celebrate the start of summer? Look no further than Bottlecaps & Corks, Michiana’s only amateur beer and wine tasting event. On May 26th, you can sample dozens of locally made beers and wines, enjoy live music by local band rampgascandypop, take in the scenery at the botanic gardens, and more. Bottlecaps & Corks will take place from 6:00-9:00 pm at Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart.
Your ticket price will not only get you into the event, but it will also help do some good. All proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County and its mission of providing local at-risk youth with mentors. Glenn Stutzman, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters says, “we want to spread the word about what we do, and how people can change a child’s life just by being there as a mentor and a friend. Of course, just by buying a ticket, people are already supporting the agency,”.
Local wine maker Andrew Hicks helped found the event when he was on the board at Big Brothers Big Sisters, and plans to enter some of his wines once again. “You will find a lot of quality cabs, zins, and IPAs at the event, but another cool aspect is serving something unique and different to see how other people like it,” says Hicks. “As a ticket holder, it’s fun to test your palate,”. Currently, a variety of beers and wines have been registered for the event. Beers include classic styles like IPAs and stouts, as well as more unique offerings such as a caramel cream ale and a bourbon barrel aged ale. Wines vary from a pinot noir to a pear wine, a seyval blanc to a mead. All attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorites, with winners in the People’s Choice competition announced at the end of the night.
Tickets are on sale now for $40 (if purchased in advance). General Admission tickets will include entry into the event and a commemorative tasting glass. VIP and Designated Driver tickets are also available. A variety of tasty BBQ options from Nelson’s BBQ will be available for purchase at the event.
